Wind

Shij

Will she be out to fly my kite
Or blow my hair up to a frightening height

Will she make my sails flap
Or gust up my cap

Will she slam the door shut tight
Or breeze through the night

Gale I will name her,
She comes in the coolest of drafts or sometimes a whirlwind of anger.

  • Comment from author about the poem: A poem is for anyones own interpretation really. That's the beauty of a poem. For me, it's obvious in my poem that I was trying to personify the wind by giving it human qualities by referring to the wind as " she " and also by naming her " gale" in the end ( as in gale force winds). Obviously I also used words such as " draft", "gust" etc... words already associated with describing wind. The main reason I used personification was just to make if more personal that's all. I'm new to all this so forgive me for my mistakes. Thank you.

        Welcome

      • Fay Slimm.

Hello Shij - - welcome to M.P.S. This is a friendly poetry site and has plenty of postings to read and review and perhaps learn from - - there are many styles and diverse subjects to suit every taste. Your poem on Wind attracted my initial attention with its inventive words of personification which gave a freshness to each lively line. Hoping to read more of your work soon and meanwhile keep the poetic ink flowing my friend.
