Don't Recycle

poetboy123

The 3 R’s, I bet that’s something we’ve all heard

From who, and who’d they hear it from, a little bird?

Climate change is a tremendous problem, this is true

However, the sole blame doesn’t rest on me and you

Individuals may contribute to this growing heat

Yet, there’s one entity none of us could beat

Those letting an exponential amount of carbon loose into the air

Still, we claim the problem is us, how is that fair

Factories letting pollution flow down the stream

Profit for the present, destroying any future dreams

And the first to go are places like South Asia

Poor countries being affected, such as Nigeria

It’s easy for us not to care and think recycling will solve it all

Don’t be overzealous, this ignorance will cause our fall

Lobby against their lobbyists taking control of our fate

The time has come, call of duty, refuse to sit and wait

Oh and this isn’t really part of the poem, just some facts, but livestock also significantly contributes to global warming especially with how they are treated in factory farming. I hope you manage to care and watch several informative documentaries around it or just read some summaries online. So yeah, cows cause more global warming than everybody due to the methane they release. Not saying to be vegan, just hold back on the meat, mainly Americans, we eat A LOT of meat in a year. And if you disagree with me, please comment, it's always good to hear another side, and who knows? Maybe I'll be able to change your mind.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Author’s Note: You should still recycle, the title was meant to catch attention Also I’ll make another poem about live stock since it is immense and deserves way more attention than it gets.
