The Shell

daisychain

Pearly iridescence, rainbow imbued

Soft to touch and smooth,

Many years have passed since this fragile shell

Was formed by sea-creatures

Washed by high tides

Splashed with foaming spray;

The shell has been formed

And become an object of beauty.

I am this shell, my own master

With my own thoughts and no intrusions

And at my side my companions lie within

The glistening waters that surround me.

My feelings are a yearning to be loved

And a longing for peace in my heart.

I am honest and open with how I feel

Yet some of my companions are closed

And unable to tell me their inner thoughts.

I regret their reticence

But they are their own masters

And with perseverance can open up

To listeners ears.

I am a shell with inner beauty

Peaceful thoughts and honest mind.

I love the feel of my sun-drenched coat

And the wind and water that surround me.

My world is nature.
