Orpheus

Adam Shirley

And so he kept walking ,

As anxiety grew,

As doubts birthed,

But his oath was impenetrable.

To not look back,

For she'll vanish,

He was resolute and unwavering.

Once he reached the surface,

His impatience relinquished.

He turned back.

And there she was.

Present, revitalized.

She gave him one final grin

And vanished.

Unfortunate prophet not realizing,

That although he reached the surface,

His mesmerizing wife did not.
