The In-Betweens

SheWasTheSun

From the first ray of morning light

To the last thought in her head at night

It was only “I cant’s” and “I’m not enough’s”

Nothing but “Why bother’s” and “I give up’s”

But stitched carefully amid the seams

Were the glorious little in-betweens

The take-over-the-world schemes

And the overdone daydreams

The ultraviolet light beams

And the pushing far past extremes

The carefully crafted success scenes

The well-oiled transformation machine

Sly smiles masking elated screams

The “One day you’ll all see what I mean’s”

And the “I’m like no one you’ve ever seen’s”

And those wondrous little in-betweens, however slight

Pieced together and paired with her fight

Proved to be miraculously enough

To fill every corner of the world with love
