A CAREGIVER'S LAMENT

drchito fl

My life, my love of 44 years of marital bliss,

I reflect on the milestones we have reached.

From grandiose wedding to fatherhood and motherhood,

To raising three sons with pride and joy,

To countless hours of livelihood spent in the healing arts,

Then welcoming our grand kids, our love and joy!

But then, your health was dealt a trying blow... Parkinson's

     reared its spiteful head!

My love, you fought and still lived your life with poise and passion, buoyed

     by unwavering family support.

By now, you have passed its twelfth year, and it gets tough to deal

     with even menial tasks.

Now, more than ever, I feel the weight of your plight...

The day to day vicissitudes of life!

But have no fear, I am always near!

I will hold you up when you feel down;

I will light your path when the road is dark.

We are together...

"In sickness and in health, for better or for worse",

Together, we will ride the storm!

True love is tested, but further strengthens and always endures!

Wow, where to begin. My father-in-law had Parkinson's and I can attest it is a horrid monster. I have been married for 45 years to the love of my life. I can understand the trials but know what must be in your heart. Great write and I could feel every word.
