BIRDS

abhay2989

Once I asked a bird in a cage "Why are you here?"

An innocent reply came "I think, for them I was very dear! "

The bird then asked me "What is your dream?"
I said "To fly!"

It said "You don't have wings, but you can take mine"
To which I asked "Don't you need them? What will you do without yours?"

It sadly said "In this cage I cannot fly! These wings are of no use behind these closed doors!"

My heart sank to the thought,
That a bird could think what a human could not.

I decided to set it free,
and on the count of three,
I opened the cage without thinking about many things,
The bird came out, filled with joy,
And told me " I can still give you my wings!"

Thank you Christina for your comments. Unknowingly I had marked the poem as 18+ which I have corrected now. Thanks to you. Also, I have uploaded another poem today. Do read it.
