I have a Christian lover
Her love is fair as fair
She gives what I deserve not
I give to her her share
When weary arms droop downwards
I'll hold her by the wrists
And plant ten thousand kisses
Upon her conscience clear
But if she says she's wearied
Of all my sins and me
I shall not know remittance
But drop dead instantly.
I have a Christian lover
Her love is like a shrub
Which grows in God's own garden
By glassy waters clear
And if untruth shall cloud us
I know whose it should be
For she my Christian lover
Would never turn on me.
