Lesser

Baylee

We see mental disorders

as something that is nonsensical

But who’s to say

their reality

is any less real than yours?

Perhaps

the “common” ones of us

such and you and me

are seeing life through a filter

While those with other such abilities

know how stupidly oblivious

we truly are

What frustration

to be trapped be a society

that sees you as lesser

If only

they knew.

This is a really good write! And I agree with you. Even those struggling with depression and anxiety are sometimes put in a category with the lesser. We need better mental health awareness in our country. Thanks for writing this!

Nicole, you are posting one great poem after another! Who are we to decide what is "normal", what is "real", or how a person should be. I do wonder sometimes if the ones we consider wrong, don't have it right!
