The Days

skyebellasario

Behind those lost, blue eyes
I glimpse echoes of the man you once were.
Is it so much to ask? For a day of the past.

I long for the times,
When we clambered upon your lap
And you span us around,
Faster than our little legs could handle.

We trampled through the muddy fields,
And paddled in the stream.
You recited those ancient jokes,
We all shouted the punchlines.
Like we had a thousand times before.

Who knew time could pass this fast?

Now we watch the memories,
Of ourselves disappear.
We watch the person that used to be,
Slowly fade away.
