Guardian of Innocence

Accidental Poet

Be careful of who you trust

There are those invested deep

In deceitful selfish ways

Your sanity they wish to reap

Don’t fall victim

Of undeserving blame

Stand vigilante of accusers

Deflect their arrows of shame

Don’t follow the path they make

You’re not their puppet of guilt

‘Tis they who slither

Within the slime and silt

Pay them nothing

Of which they ask

Your disgust is all they’ve earned

And there let them bask

Like the early morning Sun

You will rise and shine

Guardian of innocence

Watchful of those unkind

Are you talking about the internet? Don't trust anybody there, except of course the members of MPS!

    • Accidental Poet

Not just the internet, but people in general. The poets in MPS? You can trust them with your life Fred. ; )

    • Fay Slimm.

Such good advice in all walks of life my friend - "pay no mind to those who wish to say hurtful things" my Gran used to say.

So many people out there who cannot be trusted, be aware, be very aware.

And to think we used to leave our homes unlocked while not at home. What a contrast to today. Thanks for reading and commenting Goldie. ; )

Treat them superficially. Don't give too much attention. Just enough so they think you are friendly. Very nice poem AP. You always find great subjects to bring up. Thanks

I try not to even acknowledge them unless they push too hard,. And if they did, I might surprise them by pushing back. Equal force to force I say. Always appreciate your reading and compliments malu. ; )

You say it was about all people . And I thought it was directed at Trump! 🙂

                    • Accidental Poet

Well, I suppose it could easily apply to Trump. Although I don't particularly care for him, I wasn't thinking of him when I wrote it. Guess I wrote the poem about deceitful people who only see people as whether or not they can be easily victimized to their own benefit. And I'm certain that Mr. Trump has fallen guilty of this many times to gain the riches he has acquired. Thank you for reading and commenting. ; )
