I can't believe it's been this long, since you went away...

My heart you took along with you, that cold November day...

I'm sure you had good reasons,

to spread your wings and fly...

I just can't understand it and don't know exactly why...

You're free now of the demons, 

that caused you so much pain...

I long to feel the sunshine,

but all I see is rain...

You're gone but not forgotten and missed more than you know...

I wish your smiling face was here and you wouldn't have to go...

So rest in peace my precious child, your time on Earth is through...

I'll see you on th other side, when

I come to be with you...

  • Comment from author about the poem: I am a survivor parent of a child lost to Suicide...Jay was very loving, caring, funny & intelligent...He was my first born, my only son, my shining light & I was blessed to be his Mom for 29 wonderful years...November 14, 2015, I got the call no parent ever wants to answer..Jay had hung himself for reasons only known to him...He was on life support for one week, when his brain herniated...November 21, 2015, as I was sitting at his bedside, my precious child was declared brain dead...That was 22 months ago today & just as fresh in my mind as that cold November day...The only comfort I find is knowing that because he had such a caring & giving soul he lives on...Jay's death, through organ donation, saved the life of five very sick but thankful individuals...I miss My son beyond words & my life will never be the same.

    I'm so very sorry for your loss. You pulled this write from the depths of your heart and soul for your son. You and your son are never apart, he's with you always. I wrote a poem that I think you might appreciate, "This Is Not Good-bye" near the beginning of my list of poems. R.I.P Jay.
