You were the one to give me an opportunity
A glowing candlelight for me to follow through the dark
You helped me accomplish
My biggest pride and joy as a writer
My first real story
More like a short clip
Of something that should be far larger
SOmething that holds emotions and effort beyond belief
And you helped me lock those things inside with a golden key
With these feelings, you can see for yourself
As the character struggled and prevails and struggled again
As her memories come back tenfold
How the distortions of not letting go can lead to so much pain
You helped me out of my shell
You helped me find that even if it's just one person
There will be someone who will read it
There will be someone who will care about it
Being a writer means sharing emotions
Sharing stories, and themes, and ideas
Telling a story as it unfolds from cover to back
Singing the melody of your efforts for others to listen to
So Thank You for all you've done
You helped a little girl stand
You taught her how to walk
And how to write with the courage every writer should have
