Like A Moth To A Flame

Syd

It was like a moth to a flame

I, the moth

You, the flame

I gravitated towards the flame

admiring the warmth it made me feel,

basking in the light

savoring the sense of belonging

A mistake;

the fire grew too hot

emitting burning rage instead of the warmth

it once shared with me

We all know what happens to

the moth

when it gets too close to

the flame
