When Life Gets You Down.

kevin browne

When life gets you down and you feel the world is spinning round
Where efforts pass you by with the guilt of never doing anything
Educated expectations dissolve into murky waters with a tear
Evaporating ideas fill up the emptiness of what your desires are
Your sadness plays a role in life which can turn happiness on
And when the edge of hell appears to be cooling down a little
troubles boil normally into something you never thought it was
flexing issues bending the rules playing truant from behind a wall
Kitchens fights with knives where husband lost his mind that day
And in the deepest darkest places where not even God has seen
Torturing dimensions and hurting out the existence of being ill
Fair weathered people living in between the cracks that open up
Scared lonely and left alone in this world of painful miseries
There underneath the way things work is a miracle set by who
Watching backs falter with tremendous trembling of silent hearts
Convinced into believing where we must be heading someday
That the brothers and sisters around the world must fit everyone
Where truth evades the distinguished lesser honesty of a human
Fighting laws, governments do whatever it was we learnt in school
Dangerous liaisons with the finances of lucid imagery in money
The teaching of intensity inspired the devil to cause another war
For you walk alone discovering the mistakes everyone makes
And being unable to stretch out and hold someones loving hand
We all fall to prey of never knowing what it is we all should say
And if things are falling apart then let it happen without a thought
When passing moments disappear and the light sparkles at you
Where rivers are drowning with the guilt of taking another life
Suicide has answered many a question but left a hole in others
Despair left normality emptied out by the atrocity of getting there
We hope to put things right without having to deal with nothing
Standing on top of the world always caused a vision to open up
Where we see a light-giving away the importance of what we need
To declare the human rights status of the fact that we all share it
Remembering before when things didn't seem so good anymore
A life is taken into desperation to reveal how awful it can be
Taking away a wish when it was thought of as being a genius
That in the end, we take a step forward into our homely heaven
Forgetting how long a life is lived for in paradise we now love
Death, as it appears, causes the body to go into a reflection of it
Sitting comfortably with the loved ones we lost before they died
We teach difficulties unknowing the stresses they fire up into
The living thing is a pastime for pastures to share their fruits
One life, one go, one more, one who was always left behind
And in having the hand of God to brush away all this above
There is positivity which can bring back the older version of us
Sticking to the rules of engaging with things that make us better
Wishing well is working filling up all the dreams that come true.

I like the way you write. "And in the deepest darkest places where not even God has seen". So profound. I feel like I have been in some of those places once upon a time. Really great piece!

thank you, Christina S. I would imagine we have all experienced some of the above. just a shame we have to.

Kevin, well written, but kind of depressing. I might have said it before, but I think it fits here: The difference between being in a rut and a grave is only depth. But the last four lines do give some hope!

Sometimes it's good I feel to exert the dark side and to transform it into a positive side which is what poetry is all about.
