First Place

First Place

Only first place wins the game

When the competition is through

Only the first one attains the fame

That the second one aspires to do

Then there is the third place one

On the podium and standing tall

Though his not necessarily a place

That others will later recall

The fourth place one may be the worse

Of them all when compared

So close to the medals when he is done

Yet fans don’t seem to care

The last place one finishes the race

and does the best that he can do

he is recognized for his effort

And we applaud his competing too

Great piece, I am reminded of the Superbowl. Two teams have competed tirelessly defeating the others in the league for the right for only those two on the field for the final game, and yet only the winner here will truly be remembered.

Thanks L.Yes, it's easy to forget that the Falcons were in last year's Superbowl!
