Two Chimneys

Vernon B

One day while I was traveling

I saw two chimneys by the road

standing there so silent

where a family once abode

Fire had consumed the house

The tin roof lay on the ground

where children once laughed and played

now there was not a sound

I thought about the family

that once called it home

did they still live close by

or are they dead and gone

did they know my Jesus

did they call Him Lord

Salvation is the gift of God

even poor folks can afford
