The Girl Who Stopped The World

Edthepoet

In I jump
With shackled ankles
The harsh tide
Breaks my fall

The rivers ripples
Reach her bare feet
On the east side shore

Curiosity wins
The struggle
In she dives
No looking back
Nowhere to hide

The sunlight fades
As I reach the dusty floor
Despite lack of faith
I surrender to the Lord
And prey for the first time
With my last thoughts

Delicate soft hands
Wrap around my chest
Shackles break away
Disturbing river bed sand

Dust cloud forms
Surrounding our
Drowning silhouettes
blind to our fate
Her lips touch mine
As we rise we break
The surface of a calm tide
Fresh air attacks my lungs
Life dives back into my mind

My weary head
Rests back against
her breast
As she swims us
Back to shore

The girl who
stopped the world
As I tried to get off

Spin me out
Of control
Spin me around
Once more
