WHISTLING GRANULES

avi.z

The wind blew & I thought

Well, I thought I kind of knew u.

We were hitched for the long hall,

caboodle and all

but as things turned, I realized…

I hadn’t a clue.

So now on the beaches

hot sparkles

sifts neatly through

hour glass of my toes

diseases and white sun baking

leatherly

on my fair tonic skin.

Lone aborigine appears chalky

staring with blocked off eyes

at my feet or life

and I too

repay

the strange flavor.

Have I trespassed upon sacred scar?

Colors so foreign

patterns of reptiles and cosmos

earth tones

and I take it all in

slower than the wind

breathing kinda slow

theres no rush now - whatever!

shouldering the burden

like mother Theresa

and thinking about my jitney- God only knows?

Just speaking to some lovely lady

about trials and tribulations

the bog and the turf

waves cascading

so much in common

light and dark

chiaroscuro

east and west

foreigner and native

smart and dumb

judging and accepting

with nervous feet,

granules to form

an ephemeral heart

Her smile confirmed

Surely

I’ve not gone mad!

suddenly it dawns

i’ts all

granules & granules…

& more granules

of in betweens.
