Dark Euphoria

alynncox89

I often wondered what it would feel like to rise in the light of the day and feel euphoria.
I wondered if the feelings of impossibility would be replaced with the decadence of new opportunity.
I came from a place where darkness was my light and I learned to embrace, caress, and dance in the shadows.
I lingered in the midnight hours...
Many blunts and whiskey sours.
Oh the thoughts the darkness brings...
A high pitched lullaby engulfed in sin.
The demons that rise from deep within..
The war wreaks havoc on your mind and the darkness suddenly feels overwhelming...
Heart beats increase...
Anxiety takes its spot and signs it's lease...
Sweat forms on your brow and you wonder how can you escape?
I wonder if there is euphoria in the light...
A chance to say farewell to the persistent night.
I wonder if it's within reach or is it unobtainable.
The darkness fills your soul with a coldness no one understands..
A foreign place... a no mans land.
But within the darkness a warrior is born...
A woman who is beaten, tattered, and torn..
A woman who survived...
From the ashes she rose like a Phoenix...
Reborn into the unexpected light.
A chance to do it all again...
Maybe this time right.
