A Good Dog

A Good Dog

Everyone needs a good dog

A companion that will stay

A best friend to accompany him

As he goes about his day

A good dog can be of any breed

And be of any size at all

Just as long as he retrieves

And comes when he is called

A good dog must be good with children

And get along with them well

Never biting and never growling

When a little one pulls his tail

A good dog must like good cats

As many have felines too

He should tolerate them as they nap

And lounge beside them too

A good dog is fed every day

With things that dogs should eat

No fruit and no vegetables

But a diet with real meat

A good dog must always bark

At strangers in the night

A warning there in the dark

That he will surely bite

A good dog costs very little

And is worth more than dollars

He has a family that sleeps with him

And he always wears their collar

Nice easy joyful piece. I have heard a quote once that went something like this. "When feeding a dog, the dog thinks, 'Wow he is feeding me, he must be a god.' When feeding a cat the cat thinks, 'Wow he is feeding me, I must be a god.'"
