Contrition

Reivax Camlost

Smiles dance across their faces,

Hearts upon their lonely places--

Begging freely given pardons

--In their shadow spaces;

Then drawing into their Rose-gardens

A life lived free, at last unburdened:

love, lament and lose again,

love

    Reivax, I like your poem a lot. Very well written. Sounds a bit like the feeling one would have after confession.

      Perhaps! Thank you. It is, essentially, a poem of guilt and forgiveness. The last lines seem to state that, no matter how fickle these pursuits may seem (in that we inevitably commit another wrong, and must be forgiven for that wrong, even as we promise never to wrong someone again), love remains a constant, unifying force.
