Your Scent

skyebellasario

Strolling along,

I inhale the sweet scent

Of your coconut shampoo.

And in flashes,

It all comes back.

The fireworks,

The laughter,

The broken hearts.

That time on the beach,

At midnight, we were watching

As the roaring flames danced

And the waves rolled onto shore.

When our eyes met,

Across the room.

I guess

It all stemmed from there.

Back then,

When we couldn't handle the intensity

Of our emotions.

Perhaps if our eyes had met now,

Everything would be so different.

The scent of coconuts,

Disappears, despite my fight

To hold onto that tiny piece of us.

And just like the first time,

You are gone from my life.

Thank you! But this poem is entirely based on fiction, I turn 16 in a couple of days so to be honest I have never been in love. Like a lot of my poems I just try to capture the feeling of it 🙂

Oh ok, well then, a early Happy Birthday to you sky. And I'm glad to hear you didn't lose a love. Excellent writing though. ; )
