If I can't have you

If I can't have you,

why does my love continue to grow?

If I can't have you,

why do I keep hoping?

If I can't have you,

why do I think about your big, brown eyes?

If I can't have you,

why do I fantasize about kissing your lips?

If I can't have you,

why do you make my stomach flutter?

If I can't have you,

why do you occupy all my thoughts?

If I can't have you,

why can't I let you go?

Unrequited love is a pain I know all too well, so here's to us both staying strong, eh?

Your poem brings to life what my mind seems to overthink.
