The best regret

MelanieSkyes

I never wrote my ex a poem
But I did my lovers after
The flame burned brighter
But in my heart, it's darker

Nights are late,
And I am bold
The bed is warm,
But I am cold

I miss the nights,
Snuggled together,
Never a worry,
No matter the weather

But times have changed,
And you met another,
I was still little spoon,
But that didn't matter.

So here it is,
An ode to you,
I was second best
Never enough too

The problem with me is,
What you see is what you get
But in the end, I'll always regret.
You caused the ending,
Because you hurt me,
It was my decision,
But the ending was "we".
