Stock Pond Fishing
It was a special time together
When we would fish in any weather
A little pond full of crappie
That we would catch while fishing softly
We used chartreuse little grubs
From our tackle boxes full of stuff
And slowly fished them inch by inch
On a palomar knot we carefully cinched
We sometimes chewed tobacco there
As we fished without a care
With a big fish often caught
As we spat about our spot
We guzzled many bottled waters
As the day grew even hotter
With some summer sausage too
In the early afternoon
The fishing trip would always end
With a stringer of fish we brought in
Heavy with the fish we had caught
All about our special spot
The cattle took their afternoon dip
In the pond made for it
And we headed back to town
As they waded all around
