Odds

John Prophet

What are
the odds
of your
existence?
Thousands of
generations
of your
ancestors
doing exactly
what they did.
If,
anywhere
along the line
someone turned
left
instead
of right,
you'd
not be here.
What are
the odds?
Incalculable.
Could you've
always existed?
Could your soul,
your essence
actually
be eternal?
Since a finite
mind can't
know
what the
infinite
makes possible.
Anything
is
possible.

What's it like to wake up having never fallen asleep? Great poem JG. I often find these thoughts circling my brain.
