"Crazy Feeling" -Lou Reed, 1976
Charlie's girl is so sour
A cute pout and sparkling disinterest
That "ignore you" beauty in the corner
A grin from ear to ear could muffle a train horn
But she speaks, and speaks real thought
Answers to my questions, not hers
She's attentive like a prowling tiger, but soft
She'll get bubbly
and almost comical
Charlie's girl likes the classics
the compendium for cigarette wasters and petty poets
and maybe she likes me
a dour looking scruffy petty poet
enough to rip boards and screw in walls
She's quite good at it
Better than me sometimes
I try not to take credit or boast
But she'll still let me take it
There's someone in my head,
Whenever I'm stuck in bed,
And if she lets me get no rest,
At least I'll feel loved instead.
