The Honey Moon Phase

Adrianna Kjeld

The honey moon phase is taking  place,
And  I've got nothing but adoration when I look at his face.
My friends who are closest say, 'it is dear',

while my oldest friends say, 'be careful', and 'don't fear'.

I've taken these words to the heart,
I know that we're just at the start,
but his gentle ways strike like a dart.

He treats me right, and he's smart.
He loves his mother, and gives his remarks.
It's the littlest things that create the sparks.
There was a connection made between our hearts.

I know it seems silly, right now you see,
but I hope you can grasp how happy he makes me.
I'm much less than perfect and that I'll admit,
but if you saw how great he treats me, I feel you'd been smit.

Nice writing. Lovely sentiment here, long may it last for you both.

Adrianna, love your poem overall, like the wording, the rhyming, the structure and the subject matter....until the last word on the last line. I know it rhymes, but to finish such a beautiful poem with that kind of word, somehow does not feel right.

I meant it humorously but I definitely understand why one would dislike that particular word choice. Thankful for your input, as always- Adrianna
