Extirpation

Extirpation

To every species we should relate

And know they are alive

‘tis true of snails and of skates

And animals of every size

Nature has selected them

To survive another day

In the game of life they are a win

And we celebrate their ways

Other ones grow extinct

Due to natural causes

It is a fact of life some think

And an interesting problem

Some fail due to the ways of man

With their habitat destroyed

It is here that most demand

A change in ways employed

Extirpation is the word

I sadly learned one day

It’s man’s extinction of a local one

to live another place

We may be the only species capable of self-inflicted extinction. Interesting thoughts and interesting poem, WC!

Thanks Louis! For every creature there is a season.
