THOSE days

Tamara Lancaster

some days I walk by the lake and wish my body was laying at the bottom

within the reeds

some days i walk alongside the road and pray for a semi to detatch

right where im walking

some days i walk into a multistory building and pray for a fire

when im at the top

blocking all the stairways

but some days aren't like the others

some days i wake up to your face

and i remember what im grateful for

the smell of toast cooking in the morning

those showers where you're left alone to catch a moments peace

those days are the best days

those days i give my eyes a rest

they search for your face in every crowd

the water continues running from them no matter how hard i try to make it stop

i think they miss you before my body can catch up

O.K. I rather like this one. I see the dark first stanza as loneliness. The second stanza opposes the first with the joy of love shared and waking to a lover's face. But, as life rules, you are then separated and the loneliness returns as you miss them. I love the closing line about your eyes and how " they miss you before my body can catch up." very original. All in all I would say very well done, an enjoyable write. - Phil A.
