Catch and Release

Catch and Release

I called for the net

To capture my lunker bass

She was the biggest yet

And I had made her mad

She threw my spinner out

And I cursed aloud at it

I was angered all about

And took some time there to sit

My son caught a fish

A healthy 6 lb. bass

She was not as big as mine

But was a pretty lass

He put his prize in the livewell

And happily smiled at me

It was then that I knew

His fish must be released

We took a moment then

To release her to her nest

My son smiled a grin

And I knew that we’d done best
