Faded Flower

WL Schuett

faded slate floor

a cold fireplace .

a very small window

overlooking a desolate avenue .

living in a hovel

where the walls were bare .

sometimes it's sad what

closes the doors

and that never allows them

to reopen .

left amid feelings of

long abandonment.

There was no path of truth

to amble on ,

just this path that leads

to the wooded waters edge , renewed .

She slid lid silently into

the water .

The ripples spread out

and shivered in the

moonlight

and then faded away .

A lovely flower

that that fell into the water

a long time ago .

She floated away

upside down

and nobody was ever

there to care ...

A mournful picture painted here so well, WL, both in words and by brush. Your dual talents continue to impress me. Well done!

      Thank you Louis

Fantastic talent for brushwork and poetry - very poignant both picture and verse - a really good duo WL.

Beautifully written, WL, but haunting. You captured that loneliness really well. I like the whole poem, but especially the ending, which isn't really an ending, but open ended...
The painting expresses the feelings and undercurrents from within the poem. Well done, Kudos!

Beautiful in ways which you can only become when sad and lonely.

I think the painting is a stirring representation of loneliness and depression. The poem paints an equally mournful picture of one overwhelmed by the emotions depicted in your painting. A sad ending as both are swept away, but only poetically, both remain captured in your art and poem. Found this fascinating. - Phil A.

          Welcome

A lonely hovel took you to a flower that no one else saw is the positive I took from this sad piece so well written and a beautiful painting to go with it.
