Something I forgot

David Neil

I remembered your birthday

the great times we had,

that wonderful feeling

like it was yesterday

I think of you often

of all the things you said,

we were free

for we discovered

the world

Times I remember

you brought me great joy,

you created Heaven on Earth

I loved you even more

I feel you close

In the words I speak,

I almost feel your heartbeat

beating next to mine

I remember

the good times

the sad times

all rolled into one

I remembered your number

I will call you

sometime

Then I remembered

something I forgot,

something I hide

not wanting the truth

something

that makes me cry

for your not here

anymore

An ache I fell

in my heart

I don't want to

think about

something I forgot

that feeling of loss,

that emptiness

I feel in my soul

For you're not

here anymore

for your now

in heaven,

I miss you

so much
