Being Black

brandyngraham

You want respect?

Well go earn it.

Blaming others for your downfall is pathetic.

Why do people hate us?

Because of what we do.

We ruin people's lives

We scare people. Point blank period.

Instead of changing others perspective

Change our own perspective about ourselves.

The reward will feel so much better because of the challenges we face.

  • Comment from author about the poem: BTW, I am African American A lot of african americans blame social injustice on why they are not successful but nobody or nothing should stop you from your dream. Life is not fun when its easy. It starts from changing us from the inside. Its easier to change ourselves than to change someones perspective about them.

Very powerful write and thank you for writing it. I have a mixed home and am proud of that--doesn't matter what color we are, we are all loved and respected the same. Fantastic!
