gazing contrails

Frank Prem

he circled

a circle

contrail

in the sky

wherever he flew

below him

was the earth

effortless

in air

aloft

on the wind

in the vortex

and everything

below

was the ground

someday

oh someday

perchance

the wind may lower him

perchance

perchance

him down

to the earth

but now

for now

he circled

circled the circle

contrail

the sky

and around

~

she walks

with her head up

in the air

always

her gaze

on the blue

upon the clouds

the lazy

love you

formed in contrails

in the sky

the lazy

luff

around and round

maybe

one day

if she learns well

how to leap

maybe one day

the earth

will fall behind

that’s maybe

and that’s one day

but now

she’s on the ground

and she walks

her head pointed

to the sky

Only when I'm up in the air, O. Thank you.
