The Deaf and Blind

poetboy123

As we live with the highest luxuries

There are those who are screaming for peace

War ravages upon their land, death has taken what they hold dear

Here we are a thousand miles away, unable to see or hear

Growing up mostly carefree, in our small pocket of reality

So easy, too easy to forget those left behind who remain unfree

And as long as they are chained we might as well be too

For between liberty or safety, to which will we remain true

Bloodcurdling screams piercing their starless night

Though this world that is deaf shall not listen to their plight

Unable to witness the grave injustice thriving in the dark

Though this world that is blind shall not make an effort to embark

I ask you, what're a thousand miles compared to the reach of our hearts

We seem to have forgotten, just centuries ago

Our suffering was theirs, we know each and every blow

Or will we leave them behind and head into the eye of the hurricane

While reality rages around us releasing relentless pain

For these sins, will no one reprimand

For their pain, will no one take a stand

Deaf and Blind to these unknown lands

We must build our future with our own hands
