My Secret Love

Accidental Poet

My Secret Love

There goes my heart again

Lonely walks down lover’s lane

With her beautiful face on my mind

Over and over I whisper Sharon’s name

Since ten years old she’s been my secret love

Why I hold on, I don’t really know

I have to trust my heart

I just can’t let go

What’s that they say?

“True love will not be denied”

Guess I’m just an ageing love sick pup

The test of time can’t defy

 I have to believe there’s a reason

Why I fell in love with this girl

I’m either a stubborn fool

Or the most romantic man in the world

Faith is believing in

Something you can’t see

If you don’t believe in faith

Then something will never be

I wonder if she knew

How still, her smile lives in my heart

Fifty years I’ve loved her like no other

My Queen from the start

What would she do?

Would she thank the stars above?

What might she say?

My secret love

Well, A.P., you said it yourself. I guess you really are a love sick pup.
Love the poem though! What would she say? Just imagine, she feels like you!

A love sick pup, yeah, after 50 years that's me alright. And I'm somewhat spilt on if she remembers me, maybe so. But I'm 99% sure she's happily married with a couple of kids, and probably grandkids by now. And really, that's all I've ever wanted for her is that she's loved and happy in her life. But I can't lie, I do fantasize that she remembers me with fond memories as she turns the pages of her mind. Thanks for reading Fred.

      AP,
Loving her the way you do,
she would thank the stars above, love you
      and be the luckiest woman
      in the world
to have a man like you
      by her side!
      I love reading your writings
      about Sharon.
      Great nostalgic musical accompaniment...
      ā€œSurrender to Meā€!
      Thank you for sharing!

aah, may I direct you to note I replied to Fred above you. Thank you ever so graciously for reading and complimenting on my Sharon writes. I posted a few others not long ago too, and I'll probably give it a break for a while again. Don't want my readers to get too bored of always reading of Sharon. I never bore of her because I have all these feelings and memories of her. But others don't, so I'll come back to her in a little while. Thank you though for reading and your interest.

Wonderful love poem about the woman you have loved for so long. I wonder too, if she feels the same as you? Really great write!

        • Accidental Poet

Thanks Christina. I think she might remember me, but I'm almost certain she's happily married with her own loving family. Which is what I want for her. Thanks for reading.

You got my vote. "the most romantic man in the world".
A secret love saved for 50 years, I am not sure I could hold that long.
          Great poem, lucky woman.

Thanks Michael, guess as we get old we get a little soft, LOL. I do appreciate the compliment on my writing.

Sharon though she may not know it is a very fortunate lady to have someone love her for fifty whole years - a tender love poem AP

              • Accidental Poet

Thank you Fay. So nice of you to say. I write of it, because I often wonder of how she would react to learning of my feelings for her still to this day. I'm sure if she does remember me, she would think that I'd forgotten her long ago. But...not so. ; )

Another very good heartfelt write AP, your love for her is undiminished over all those years.

I've only just begun to love Sharon. Some things in life can last forever Goldie. This is one of them. Thanks for reading and your compliment. ; )
