you were but I am

ella

the sky was so beautiful
the stars were screaming your name
the ocean could hear the sound of your waves

the trees were glowing
the clouds were powerful
even though
it was fall

your smile reminded me of the clouds
your eyes were my favourite colour
your lips were my favourite taste

you were my favourite thought
I was yours
even though
you were never mine

I loved you
because
I don't understand
how I couldn't

 but

I am happier
without you
    for
you were never mine
and I wasn't yours to keep.

It's about time we have some Canadians here, especially if they write as well as you do Anonym! I do like your poem. Well penned with a good structure.
