I was going to write a poem
But I have nothing to say
The feelings that I feel
I've felt them everyday.
I was going to write a poem
But then I stopped
Why do I have to rhyme
every time I talk.
I was going to write a poem
And dress my feelings up
Make them sound not so bad
And honestly make them up.
I was going to write a poem
So this day wouldn't seem so bad
Even though I know deep down
I'll still be very sad.
I was going to write a poem
To say that I miss you
Living everyday without you
Has got me feeling blue.
I was going to write a poem
Make it sound thought out
When honestly I don't know how to
Escape this emotional drought.
I was going to write a poem
To say that I am drained
It's too hard to fake
The thoughts within my brain.
I was going to write a poem
A story about you
How even on your death bed
You continually pursued.
I was going to write a poem
Saying you were gone
Talking about the life you lived
And the legacy you lead on.
I was going to write a poem
I was gonna say
I hope you have a happy
Heavenly Gotcha Day
I was going to write a poem
Saying that I'm done
Telling the story I hate
Telling it to everyone.
I was going to write a poem
But my head just won't relax
I'm getting mixed signals
Should I write or should I pass?

- Comment from author about the poem: Two years without you and I've never felt more alone. Your wings were ready but my heart was not. Fly high Grandma, I love you this much more.

Because to write from the heart good poet is to correspond with God. Let’s not let Him find us squandering the gift dear sister...
I’m glad you did not pass!
I’m glad you passed it
on to us!
So relatable!
Thank you for sharing, Bayli!
Well written and expressed
