Broken souls

Anna Marg

Bruised bodies, hurt traces, the pain is real.

Through smiles and masked faces, the scars they appear.

Innocence taken, replaced with fear.

Can't keep on fighting, can't shed a tear.

Keep ripping their souls, keep letting them bare.

Abandon them thinking that love is rare.

How much can they handle, how much can they bear?

Can you see their suffering? Can you hear their prayer?

Nothing is ending year after year.

They're caught in the trap, like a frightened deer.

What kept them on going, the memories held dear.

When people were concrete and more sincere.

Is anyone listening? Is anyone here?

Pretend not to notice, pretend not to hear.

No one is helping, they made that clear.

When time after time, they didn't interfere.

So stop being passive, lay down your frontier.

This could be your sister, your brother, your peer.

This world is nothing, a mere broken sphere.

If you don't do something, the end is near.

Unfortunately, Anna, broken souls are everywhere. Out in the world and here on MPS. The last two lines of your poem are so important, but most of us shy away from getting involved.
    Very good writing!

It's sad to see people stay passive and doing nothing when coming against these situations!
