Midnight Snack (Happy Halloween!)

Alex Arnot

Lay your head and close your eyes

Pay no mind to the distant creeks

The blackened serenity tells only lies

Hiding the cretins, your blood they seek

Drenched in sweat, but still you shiver

Foggy shapes on every side

Your weakened spine begins to quiver

Smelling your fear, the creatures rise

Repulsive fiends with dried out skin

Twisted faces and hook like claws

Elongated limbs and unnaturally thin

Blade like teeth fill constricted maws.

Inhumanly strong, they hold you firm

Becoming disoriented as the room contorts

Able only to scream and squirm

Your body goes numb as the shadows distort

A distant face glides like a shark in the sea

Slowly it approaches as the room gets dimmer

As it gets closer you hear it breathe

Robbing your oxygen as the air grows thinner

Darkness has completely engulfed the room

You see only the creature baring its teeth

Soon enough you'll be consumed

As the jaw extends, it prepares to eat
