The Ghetto Child

PoeticPsycho

The Ghetto Child
Who although drenched in madness always kept a smile

The Ghetto Child
Surrounded by bad influences but never became docile

A child from the Ghetto indeed
One of a growing breed
Buried him in the dirt but they forgot he's a seed

  • Comment from author about the poem: A short poem I wrote about myself being a "ghetto child". Meaning that I grew up in the ghetto and have seen many things in my 16 years of life. Despite the fact that it's rough growing up in our communities, I have managed to escape the many troubles. Feel free to share anything you think or even your own experiences.

I won't go into a whole life story here, but I understand completely where you are coming from.... It's a blessing and a curse to see what you've seen at so young. But you have an opportunity to get wise. Continue staying out of all the riff raff and you'll go places. That sounds cliche but it's darn true!!! Great poem by the way!

Thank you for the feedback! I greatly appreciate that you took the time to write back. Yes, the key to being successful is to always focus, and under these circumstances it can be rather hard but I'm getting by!
