Apple

We are all drowning.

Drowning in an ocean of sound.

The waves drag us side to side.

Seashells jammed in our ears blocking out the cries for help by the people around us.

The screams fill the ocean but music fills our ears.

Thoughts about us, me, but never them.

The seashells block out reality and provide a synthetic empathy.

And as our drowning society thrashes around us,

We are blinded by the blue light of our screens.

Pictures, Tweets, and captions captivating our attention instead.

A broken mask lying on the ground yet the screen portraying beautiful smiles

Likes stimulating our brain

The fabricated lives of others pushing us further into ourselves.

The oxygen leaves our lungs, and our bodies sink to the bottom

Lost in darkness, left in silence

Our artificial existence and broken masks illuminated by the poison apple that has stolen our humanity.

Welcome to the wonderful world of technology, cyber media, and instant communication!
You wrote a very good poem, oliver!
I like 'fabricated lives of others', 'likes stimulating our brain', 'blinded by the blue light of our screens'.
And the last two lines say it all!
