Death Of A Warbler

Death Of A Warbler

He was a beautiful warbler

That I hit while in the road

His yellow burst of sunshine

Ending abruptly so

His song suddenly ended

And his wings no longer flew

His little soul flew away that day

As his little body I moved

I dug a little grave

And placed the warbler there

No doubt his little mate

Would be searching everywhere

He was bright as the sun

But his light had been eclipsed

It wasn’t really my fault

But I felt sad a bit

All lovers of nature feel sad at these unfortunate happenings W.C. - a touching verse on the dangers to birds in so many ways on the road today.

If only all gods little creatures had similar feelings for all other of gods little creatures.... but there again, god did create carnivores.... food for thought (excuse the pun).

Fine tribute to an unfortunate accident WC. I remember hitting a rabbit many years ago and right beside the rabbit on the side of the road was a small wooden cross. I took the rabbit to a vets office, but they said he'll not survive. Ofcourse I felt like crap, but like you, it wasn't my fault or the rabbits. I kept that cross with me for many years, then one day I couldn't find it. I think someone else needed it.
