Blood and Bone

poetboy5454

Pain and darkness and blood and bone

A beast born of fear sets to reclaim its throne

Broken promises leave a trail at its wake

Those who see it, they know to shake

Shadows mark its forgotten past, no story left to hide

A man deranged, a walking corpse coming from the side

Clutching dying dreams and fading hope, always on the path

Moving forward to the night, death to those who face its wrath

One by one you see the stars go out, a sign of its return

The vessel of death whose identity none may discern

As you wait to see the sun rise, a growl from behind

Blank dull eyes loom forward, empty of anything of any kind

The beast roars and witnesses a skeleton turn to dust

For this animal did not come to kill, it was only a pair of eyes

For all to see, to believe, without a doubt of trust

Your final breaths were long ago, as was your demise
