Footprints

skyebellasario

How can you just disappear?

Walk straight out of my life,

Leave only footprints

As a reminder we happened.

Etched with our memories,

Your footprints are wherever

My eyes rove.

As if you strolled through

A muddy field, leaving trails

like we once did

Together.

Your footprints are fossilised

In my mind.

All I can wish is, someday

A raging storm of hope

Will arrive

And wash your footprints away.

And all I can wish is that you keep on writing such beautiful poetry, Skye! And that no storm will ever wash them away.

But those same footprints are the source of the life lessons you've learned. Food for growth. ; )
