November the 8th of 2017

Orialis M. Pena

It's been a habit of mine to write down what I feel.

It's been a habit of mine to write it so I know it's real.

And today's no different.

And tomorrow I'll know it was real.

Today's November the 8th of 2017, and I'll never forget such bitter sweet melancholy.

The feeling of you right next to me.

So close, but it's not meant to be...

Holding your hand is so hard to resist.

Myself longing for just one kiss.

Laughing is painful in your company, because I know you don't belong to me.

Smiling is sad with you.

I know you think so too.

Tonight I'll go home and be alone.

Wishing I could still sleep with you over the phone.

Orialis, I concur with Hood. That last line lifts the whole poem. But contrary to Hood, I was taken with the whole poem, primarily because it conveys such a feeling of longing and unrequited love.
    Well done!

I don't often like love poems, but I quite liked this one 😀
