Frozen Memory.

Notice of absence from Drewp
I may be absent for a bit. Feeling really low today so really don’t feel like writing. You lot are an amazing bunch of people. I’m going to play guitar and record some music I think. x

Frozen Memory.

Soft, unspoken, a heartbreaking token
found, lain undiscovered from all but me
preserved in dust and tea stained rust
a picture of a dream, a forgotten memory
of days as a child, adoring ,unworried
safe in the absence of knowledge of fragility
the cruelty of time and all its hostility
A reminder how savagely ,cruelly it took from me
the arms of my father ,the safety they held for me
yet here in a photograph we smile together
in a world, preserved, unwritten , forever.

  • Comment from author about the poem: My wife’s Father recently passed away. Going through some old things she found an envelope with a photo of her as a child , maybe four years of age, with her Dad holding her upThey both were smiling. The photo was stuck to a piece of paper and on it were the words Me and my Dad written in crayon. My wife put this in a frame at home. I looked at it today and this poem fell out of my head.

Good poem Drewp. I'm fairly new to this site. I like how you can add an explanation to the bottom of your poems. When I read this for the second time it made perfect sense. Very well written, sorry for your loss - Syd
