Veteran
He had served his time
Fighting in foreign lands
He knew of bullets and mines
And meals in small tin cans
He was a living sacrifice
And pawn in another’s war
He protected many others' rights
While his were all ignored
He gave his country the best he had
And his family knew it well
Though strangers sometimes yelled at him
And triggered dizzy spells
His life was sometimes difficult
And traumatic many days
He banded with a group of vets
Who also felt this way
He now lives for his grandkids
And knows deep down inside
That they can live a better life
Because of those that died

A fine write and link with Remembrance wc.
Thanks for your support, orchidee.
Excellent WC.
Thanks AP!
A memorable tribute to a group of fine men who fought for animal health and were left with war-trauma - - a vet must have hated what cruel use of horses he saw back then W.C.
Thanks Fay. I appreciate your comment.
